Free Conference to Help Students with Learning Disabilities

When our leaders look at ways to improve the quality of life in our community, they continually cite problems with our education as a key impediment.  Our education system stands as the root of our society’s ills and our leaders are overlooking the most compelling answer to their questions – 1 in 5 of students have learning disabilities and most of that 20% fail to receive the help they need.

For over 10 years, the Greater Baton Rouge Learning Disabilities Conference presents the free C W Austin Learning Disabilities Conference and reaches out to the professionals in our area who can provide the support these students need to succeed in school and join the workforce as they move Baton Rouge forward.  These dedicated presenters volunteer their time and talent to give parents and professionals the tools they need to change the face of education in Baton Rouge to serve everyone.  February 2, 2018 at the Catholic Life Center from 8:30 till 4:30 participants can earn free or low cost ($25) 6.0 CEU hours in Social Work, Counseling, Speech and Language Therapy, Education and Parenting through conference attendance.

This interdisciplinary conference provides information to everyone working in the supporting ecosystem embracing students with learning disabilities providing information pertinent to seasoned professionals as well as people with little experience.  The exhibit hall is filled with providers with a myriad of suggestions and services to increase awareness and assistance to everyone. This is a special day filled with sharing and networking created to change the educational complexion of our area by finding ways to educate children with learning disabilities while making our home a better place for all.

Topics include: Medications, Assistive Technology, Math, ADHD, Dyslexia, Anxiety, Self-Regulation, Advocacy, Evaluations, Auditory Processing, Fluency, Careers, Comprehension, Executive Function, Word Retrieval, Self-Care, Homeschool and more.  For more information and to register for this free event go to
